The Glenville Hill Fire District No. 8 Junior Cadet Firefighter program provides area youth the opportunity to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services response organizations in a safe, controlled, educational, and fun way. It will provide cadets with valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and commitment. The program will also provide the Glenville Hill Fire Department with non-operational support and a powerful recruitment mechanism.
The Junior-Cadet program is open to all area youth between the ages of 14 and 18 with parental consent.
Requirements:
• Maintain a minimum scholastic “C” average and be in good standing at your school.
• Understand and exhibit core values of Honesty, Integrity, Loyalty, Teamwork, and Excellence.
• Be in good physical condition and pass a health physical.

This program has been made entirely possible through the award of a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant, a federal program funded by FEMA. It provides financial assistance to our District to introduce young adults between the ages of 14 and 18 with an interest to community service and firefighting.
